How many of you are looking for ways to help others develop confidence and public speaking skills? Have you tried games?
Many years ago I taught a class of self-conscious adolescents who loathed having to make speeches. Standing in front of their peers to speak was a living nightmare. Something to avoided, if at all possible.
To try to minimize their pain I devised a game I called One Minute Speeches. And very soon, as if by magic, those kids were leaping out of their seats, racing to the front of the classroom and talking up a storm!
Building on that success I experimented with all sorts of other activities: all with the same end goal - to build public speaking skills and confidence while having fun.
The best of them are in an ebook: Public Speaking Games - from fear to fun in 28 ways which I’ve just finished revising.
If you want activities, have a look. It comes with detailed instructions on setting up and running the games, along with the resources you need to play them.
Happy teaching. Happy speaking,
Susan
PS. I hope everything and everyone is well in your world.
