Listening, watching, our close friends and family give those expected speeches marking significant events can be the best of times and, the worst of times.

The worst is a long meandering ramble through an embarrassingly miss-matched collection of material. While the best is short: a carefully crafted selection fitting the occasion and the audience. It’s amusing where it needs to be, sincerely heartfelt and essentially, it’s simple.

So, dear reader, without further ado, I give you: 5 engagement toast examples.

The idea behind them was to offer a starting point for people who wanted to write their own engagement party speeches. They could use mine as a template and alter them to suit. Chop bits out. Add bits in. Mix and match until they had the speech they wanted to give.
