Do you have any suggestions for anyone wanting to practice public speaking at home? Do you have any experience with VR technologies like virtualspeech.com?
Re. VR technologies, I was involved in some of the earlier testing for Yoodli (https://app.yoodli.ai/) which I see from their website is now used by Toastmasters.
I liked what it was doing then: basic checking on pace, use of fillers, vocal variety etc. (They've added more features since I last played with it a year or so ago.)
There's a free option you could take for a whirl and see for yourself.
That aside, I've found the most useful at home practice for myself is repetition. First, it's repetition to get the lines down. Then it's repetition, (sometimes with audio or video) to experiment with delivery.
What happens if I say it this way or that way?
How does that change my body language?
What happens if I pause here, rather than there?
If these words are stressed what does that do?
Am I speaking clearly? What's the pitch of my voice like?
I laughed through it all! 😊

These reviews are good: https://www.producthunt.com/products/yoodli/reviews.

And so on.
Interesting. I will check out yoodli for my zoom calls. I had no idea such a thing existed. Thanks!
