What is the best way to handle public speaking nerves?
Take a moment to help us all by taking part in a poll to let us know
Here’s what my father used to call a $64,000* question. When he used the phrase, it was a warning you were about to be asked something requiring at least a moment or two of consideration and thought.
The question is:
What do you do to handle a major attack of public speaking nerves before making a presentation? Either your own, or if you teach, to help a student.
The reason for asking is to see if we can collectively establish what is the most effective, and frequently used, remedy.
Knowing what best to do immediately, potentially cuts out prolonging and intensifying the discomfort of nerves running wild. And that’s good news for anybody who, like me, knows the damage they can cause.
Let’s help each other!
The poll will be open for the next 3 days. Do take a moment or two to complete it.
There are nearly 6,000 of you. That should be more than enough to get a fairly reliable indication on what works best, and I’ll use that information as the subject for the next newsletter, or two.
Many thanks.
I’m looking forward to seeing the results. I think I know what’s going to come out on top, but I could be quite wrong!
Susan
PS. If you’ve chosen ‘other’ as either your first or second choice, could you let us know what your ‘other’ is in the comment section.
*The original $64,000 Question was a 1950s American TV quiz game show.
The photo, taken in 1955, is of Hal March (the show’s host) and Barbra Britton. She was the spokesperson for Revlon cosmetics, a show sponsor, and did commercials live for the program.
